“Hands Around the World” in celebration of World Cyanotype Day

World Cyanotype Day is approaching. This year it will be celebrated on Saturday, September 30.

Let us celebrate one another. Let us celebrate the things we have in common, as well as the things that make us unique. Our hope is to have people all over the world create cyanotype portraits of their hands, to symbolically join us together in love and support.

Everyone in the world is cordially invited to celebrate World Cyanotype Day at A Smith Gallery in Johnson City, Texas on Saturday, September 30 by creating cyanotype flags of their hands on white cloth, each 12×12 inches (30×30) cm.  Strung together, the flags symbolize unity, peace, and tranquility.  However, we realize that travel to Johnson City might be a challenge for some. In that case, we invite you to celebrate wherever you find yourself.  Gather with friends, invite a few strangers, make some cyanotypes!

If you would like for us to hang your flags at the reception at A Smith Gallery on September 30, please mail or ship them for delivery by September 18, to:

A Smith Gallery
103 N Nugent #175
PO Box 175
Johnson City, TX 78636

There is no entry fee.  We just want to fill the gallery with cyanotype flags!

If you would like for us to return your flags, please include return address and postage and please include your name within the work of art.

The installation will hang in the gallery until December 3.
