WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION | If you would like to create your own group of students, we can schedule a private Zoom online encaustic workshop just for your group.

The purpose of this basic four hour Zoom encaustic workshop is to acquaint students with the fundamentals of image and board preparation, encaustic application and presentation.  We will ship you a box full of all the equipment, supplies and tools you will need to participate successfully in the workshop. This includes 4 boards with your images prepped and ready for encaustic along with one image/board for you to practice gluing and another board for tissue paper.  Actual shipping to you and the return to us will be calculated and billed separately.  . The workshop also includes a half hour follow up a week later.

The workshop will cover:

• History of encaustic and view examples of contemporary encaustic artist using photography
• Preparing digital images for printing
• Preparation of boards
• Application of encaustic
• Demonstration of hand coloring on wax
• Incising in the wax with various tools
• Application of tissue paper image on waxed board
• How to print on tissue paper
• Demonstration of application of cold wax
• Various techniques to add texture to wax
• Finishing the sides of the boards and proper hanging techniques
• Care of encaustic art

The gallery will ship all the boards, prints, art supplies and equipment necessary for the workshop.  The student will ship back the art supplies and equipment after the followup session.  Participants are responsible for reimbursing the gallery for the shipping costs to and from their home/studio.  Shipping labels will be provided by the gallery.
